Cray Physical Therapy Now Offers Telehealth
In light of the Covid-19 emergency many rules and regulations regarding delivery of essential services including physical therapy have recently changed. Telehealth, or a virtual visit, is now an available option for physical therapy and we are offering it here at Cray PT!
Expansion of Telehealth Coverage in MA
On March 15, 2020 Governor Charlie Baker ordered insurance providers in the state of MA to allow for and to cover medically necessary visits via telehealth. In addition, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recently made physical therapists eligible to deliver and receive reimbursement for telehealth services. These new regulations will remain in place throughout the remainder of this public health emergency.
Benefits of Telehealth
Telehealth visits are a great option to avoid a delay in treatment at a time where many are staying home to help prevent the spread of Covid-19. A virtual visit will allow you to begin treatment for an injury or pain that you are experiencing while still remaining at home. Additionally, insurance companies have been mandated to waive member cost-sharing for telehealth visits. This means that your usual copay, coinsurance, and deductible would likely not apply. This allows you to be treated without cost to you!
How will a telehealth visit work?
If you are interested in beginning care with us or continuing care with us via telehealth we will set up an appointment time for you. Telehealth visits can be provided through either a phone call or video call. Recently the Department of Health and Human Services has allowed for flexibility with regard to which applications for video calls will be allowed for telehealth visits. With that, we are able to use popular platforms including Facetime, Zoom, and Skype, among others. During the visit your physical therapist will determine a plan of care that allows you to exercise using equipment you already have in your home.
Can I still be treated in person?
Yes! We are an essential service and our Braintree and Norwell locations remain open. In addition to telehealth visits we are also continuing to evaluate and treat patients in the clinics in a safe manner. All PTs and patients are required to wear face coverings and maintain social distance as we are able to. Additionally, if you begin working with us virtually via telehealth we will be happy to transition you to in-person appointments when appropriate for you!
